Our Story
Captain Zach Steinhauser grew up in New Jersey, but moved down to South Carolina just as he turned 13. He received a Bachelor’s in Wildlife Ecology & Conservation from the University of Florida.

He grew up enthralled with being outside and seeing all of the wildlife he could possibly find in his community. Working as a Naturalist, he began leading guided birdwatching trips in the Columbia area. His premiere trip is taking guests out on Lake Murray to North America’s largest Purple Martin roost. It was when he began leading these trips that he realized his passion for connecting people to nature through firsthand encounters.

In the 7 years that Zach has been leading birdwatching trips, he’s become recognized across the state as “The Purple Martin Guy”. He has traveled to countries all over the world chasing wildlife experiences... and a great time. Zach's work has seen him work with the likes of National Geographic, The Wild Lens Collective, Garden & Gun Magazine, & national Wildlife Magazine!
